100% Natural, Organic Fibers: Pure Silk, Raw Silk, Linen & Cotton

Silk is premium material which is made by silk worms and then spun into fabric. The 100% pure silk is a very light, fine fabric which drapes beautifully. It is soft, smooth and shiny.  This fabric is semi-transparent in the lighter colors. Silk is absorbent and can be negatively affected by body perspiration.  Silk needs separate hand washing, drying out of the sun and careful ironing with a cool iron setting. 100% silk is suitable for most of our Tai Chi clothes but is not recommended for the Tai Chi suits as it is too fine.

Raw silk (also made by silk worms) is a premium fabric. Raw silk is 100% natural silk fiber.  It is a medium weight fabric with a linen-like look and feel.  Raw silk is absorbent and allows ventilation.  It looks fantastic and wears well.  Raw Silk is particularly good for our Tai Chi or Kung Fu suits.  It needs separate hand washing, dry out of the sun and careful ironing with a cool iron setting. Raw silk softens with repeated washing.

Linen is a medium weight fabric which is absorbent and allows ventilation. It looks fantastic and wears well. Linen is particularly good for our Tai Chi or Kung Fu suits.  Linen softens with repeated washing. Hand wash separately. Dry naturally in the shade. Linen needs regular ironing as it is prone to wrinkling. Our linen is either 100% linen (available in black, white and mid brown) or 90% linen and 10% polyester (available in a large range of colors).

Our cotton is a light weight fabric in a huge range of colors.  Cotton is absorbent and allows ventilation so a good choice for warm weather.  100% cotton softens with repeated washing. Wash whites and colored clothing separately and dry colored clothing out of the sun. Cotton needs ironing as it is prone to wrinkling.

Medium weight cotton is the same type of 100% cotton but is heavier and warmer. Our medium weight cotton is available in only two colors: black and white.  Cotton needs ironing as it is prone to wrinkling.

Linen polyester

Our linen blend is 90% linen and 10% polyester. It is softter than 100% linen and does not crease as much. It is a medium weight fabric. Wash whites and colored clothing separately and can be machine washed.

Cotton/Polyester Blend

This is a very lightweight fabric which is a blend of cotton and polyester: perfect for wearing in summer. It is available in the full range of colors.  Wash whites and colored clothing separately and dry colored clothing out of the sun. Cotton/polyester is easy care requiring no, or little ironing. This fabric is good for all our Tai Chi uniforms.

Silk Blends

Japanese Silk is a name that has been given to a silk blend comprised of about 70% fine silk and 30% cotton/polyester. Japanese silk is completely opaque and is available in a range of colors. Japanese silk is a medium weight fabric with a slight sheen that drapes well. Unlike 100% pure silk, Japanese silk is long-lasting, easy care and wrinkle resistant.

Care Instructions: Wash whites and colored clothing separately and dry colored clothing out of the sun. Ironing should not be necessary but if you do iron this fabric use a cool irom. It can be chosen for any of our Tai Chi uniform styles including the Tai Chi suits.

Cotton silk blend is about 65% cotton, 25% silk and 10% polyester. It is very light-weight fabric which is great for wearing in summer. Cotton/Silk is easy care requiring little ironing. It is available in a limited range of colors .

Cotton and Spandex Blends

Light weight cotton/spandex (5-7% spandex ) has a slight one way stretch.  It is softer than 100% cotton and less prone to wrinkling.   Light weight cotton/spandex is a good choice for warm weather.   Wash whites and colored clothing separately and dry colored clothing out of the sun.  Needs light ironing.

Medium weight cotton/spandex (5-7% spandex ) has a slight one way stretch and drapes beautifully.  It is a premium, medium-weight fabric which is softer and warmer than both 100% cotton and the light-weight cotton/spandex blend fabric.  Medium weight cotton spandex is wrinkle resistant.  It is a good choice for cooler weather.   Wash whites and colored clothing separately. Dry naturally out of the sun for maximum wear.   Usually needs no ironing.

Polyester/Spandex Blend Fabric

Polyester fabrics are non-absorbent, resists stains and wash well.  Polyester clothing drape beautifully.  Our fabric is very light with four-way stretch.Polyester spandex blends require no ironing. Stretch fabrics should be treated with great care: heat and light are the enemies of all stretch fabrics. They should be hand washed and dried naturally in the shade to ensure long-lasting comfort and performance.

Satin

Satin is a silk like material  made of 100% polyester which is a man made fabric. Polyester satin drapes beautifully.  Satin is best in temperate weather; in winter it may feel a bit too cool and in summer it can become sticky with perspiration.  Polyester satins are non-absorbent, resists staining and fading.  Polyester satin is easy care; it washes easily by machine or hand.  Polyester requires no ironing.
